Candy Apple Sparrow makes intimate, melody-forward songs that live somewhere between wistful folk, thoughtful indie rock, and quietly expansive pop. Drawing inspiration from artists like Beirut, Belle and Sebastian, Pinback, Death Cab For Cutie, and Neutral Milk Hotel, the project leans into earnest songwriting, layered arrangements, and hooks that linger long after the song ends. There’s a sense of movement in the music—restless but gentle—where small moments feel significant and emotions are carried with care rather than force.

The project is led by Jeff Perales, also known for his work in Mind Mine and Sunflower Syndicate, and as part of the cassette-focused label Do It For Chico! Records. Where those projects often explore heavier or more experimental terrain, Candy Apple Sparrow offers a softer lens—still emotionally direct, but filtered through warmth, melody, and pop sensibility. A 10-song debut album is currently in the works and slated for release on cassette in 2026, capturing the project’s affection for tangible formats, thoughtful pacing, and songs that feel personal without being precious.
